A Joyful Noise!
“Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all you lands.
Serve the Lord with gladness: come before His presence with singing.
Know that the Lord, He is God: it is He who has made us, and not we ourselves;
We are His people, and the sheep of His pasture.
Enter His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise:
Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.
For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting; and His truth endures to all generations.”
“For you are holy, and you inhabit the praises of your people”
A while ago I had a vision of public worship taking place on Truro's Piazza, with worshippers from all over Cornwall coming together to worship God in the marketplace.
I have been praying about this for some time but shelved it as I'm not a musician or spokesperson and I don't have the gifting or time to make it happen. It's a vision that just isn't going away. I know that when God wants something to happen, He provides for it and opens all the necessary doors. More recently my attention has also been drawn to the 2009 prophecy of Martin Hogan for Cornwall (see below). This event would see much of that prophecy being fulfilled.
This vision is a public declaration and proclamation of the wonders of our Father God, our adoration of Him, welcoming His Presence (His Holy Spirit) in the marketplace, sharing the church’s biggest secret – the sweet and powerful presence of the living God – who “inhabits our praises” and blessing all those who find themselves drawn there that day - that they may meet with Him and receive Him because of our wonderful Lord Jesus.
Everything God does is eternal. Every event involving God is more than a one-off event. It’s the start of something eternal. As we welcome our eternal Father into the commercial centre of our County, He progressively becomes more present there, it starts becoming holy ground, it becomes easier and easier to share the Good News of the Kingdom of God in that place, and hearts become more open to Him there.
The vision for this event is a 12 hour session of worship where different worshippers come forward in turn to take the lead in worship. This might involve a fixed stage but would also appear (I want to use the word “combust”!) in several areas of the Piazza so that a consecutive series of flashmob-style worship takes place in different areas of the Piazza. As well as minimising costs this allows for greater spontaneity, easier access and involvement by the public in what we are doing, fresh points of interest for those staying the full 12 hours, a greater area covered and touched by God’s presence and a greater reliance on God for the event than on the stage. This flashmob-style event would also equip those doing it to undertake spontaneous worship on the Piazza and elsewhere in Cornwall as they feel led in the future. (Permission would be required for either type of event from Truro Council.)
This is a wonderful opportunity for different worship groups of different styles to come together, to collaborate in forming bands, choruses and choirs, as God opens up opportunities to do so. Each of us meets with God in many different ways and each style of worship draws to it those whom God specifically wants to draw near to. It will also be a wonderful demonstration to the public of the different styles of worship currently taking place in our churches, which many will not have experienced before. There could be jamming sessions too – perhaps as part of the handover between one band/chorus/choir to the next, where both do a couple of songs together. (Personally, I would love to see some singing in tongues too!)
Note: this is not about performance. Our primary focus and audience is not man but our Father God, our Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit. If we strive for excellence it is because we want to give Him our best and worship Him from our hearts. It is in giving Him our hearts in worship that His presence inhabits our praises and those who do not know Him yet will be drawn to us, tugging on our sleeves demanding “Tell me more about your God?”
In this vision I also see a coming together of key evangelists in Cornwall. At appointed times a different evangelist (or team of evangelists) share the Good News of the gospel according to the style God has given them. Among those I would love to have involved would be Bishop Tim, Steve Wilde, Jonny and Andy Giddens, Matt Noble, Phil Pechonis, Lyndsay Hamon, Howard Barnes, Mike Firbank and Don Double. I'm sure there are many more God will advise over time.
A massive screen for the lyrics would encourage the public to engage in the worship, but flyers would also be available, as they in themselves are a declaration of the gospel and can be taken home and meditated upon by those receiving them. A leaflet explaining the event, with a list of the bands and churches involved, could also be distributed. Handing these out provides opportunities to chat with those who want to know more about what we are doing and who God is, to share personal testimonies and to enable those wanting to do so to invite Jesus into their lives.
This vision embraces all our brothers and sisters in both the more established denominational churches (for example Anglican, Catholic, Salvation Army, Methodist) and the newer churches (New Frontiers, Vineyard, Tubestation, Light and Life, plus many more!) Although there is a lot more unity between the churches in each of these streams, there is still a tendency for events to be publicised and popularised by either the more established churches or the newer churches. These two streams have not yet intermingled much. This vision is a joyful joining together of these two streams as we worship God together in the centre of Truro. This is a powerful demonstration of our love for God and Jesus’ command to love one another, as we love Him while we worship together.
I see this vision as a free partnership between denominations, churches, individuals and key charities/trusts whose mission is to worship God and/or to promote the gospel in Cornwall, for example Cornwall Worship, CreationFest, Encounter, Ambassadors for Christ, Open Air Campaigners, Cornwall House of Prayer, Kingdom Vision (there are many more). As the vision becomes known, Ambassadors will emerge, people whom God will equip and empower to draw worshippers together from all the churches and fellowships in Cornwall.
The Good News is: He loves you, the Kingdom of God is at hand and you are invited to come be a part of it.
Be blessed and know His favour.

My new wave of revival and all that I am doing in Cornwall today, is about Jesus my beloved Son. Jesus is, and must remain, the centre. The acclamation 'Jesus is Lord' is to be the battle cry, for it is at the sound of these words that Satan's hosts will flee, and those I have called, will rally.
It is at the sound of this great acclamation, called from the heart, that I shall release my Holy Spirit, and My Church will be empowered to proclaim release to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, and to proclaim the day of My favour.
When My Church, filled with my Spirit, proclaims the message of Jesus, no-one, no power or authority, earthly or spiritual, will be able to stand against my elect.
You, who have undertaken to pray, are crucial to my plans for revival and growth today. Your prayers ascend to the heavens, and are heard by me, and all who stand in My throne room.
Over the last decade I have been making a huge fishing net. A net to gather in a harvest of souls for my kingdom. This great net now lies over the whole of Cornwall covering every part of the land from coast to coast. Each knot in the net is a group or individuals who prays. Some areas, are well covered while others are covered by individuals, but do not be discouraged, you are not alone. The ropes that join the groups together give the net it's strength. Up to now some groups have been virtually unaware of the other groups around, but from now on I want you to strengthen these links between you. Pray for each other, pray with each other and share prayer needs across the groups.
Be aware of those who I lay upon your heart to pray into the kingdom. I want Cornwall back, and there is no-one who is outside of my reach. Pray them into the net.
In these days I am raising up new leaders. Prophets, Evangelists, Teachers, Preachers and Pastors. This new generation of leaders is very young and will need your love, prayer and support. Do not despise their youth. Look at the early Church leaders, they were very young and in every revival in every age, it is young men and young women with vitality and strength that I use in the front line. Identify them as I raise them up, and pray for and support them.
There are also many who have been anointed by me who, over the last 30 - 40 years have cooled as they have waited for the Kingdom, - to you I say: "The Kingdom is at hand, rise up and trim your lamps, the Lord requires you all to be a part of this great wave. Pray that you will be ready to be used in the ministry I have chosen for you.
Pray for your local churches, chapels and fellowships. Pray that they will be ready and open to receive all who I will send. Pray that they will be ready to nurture new commitment and new relationships with the Lord Jesus. Pray for a readiness on the part of Churches to cast off some of the baggage that obscures the message of Jesus. Pray that they will talk Jesus, share Jesus, point to Jesus and worship Jesus.
Remember the time when I caused the disciples to haul in a great catch of fishes, 153 large fish! and the net was not broken!
The time is near, when I will begin to draw in this net, and gather in the great harvest of souls, but before I do, strengthen the links and strands that hold you together, so that the net will hold and none may be lost. Every soul is precious to me, and many are weak, frightened and small, and could wriggle through the weak links, But I want them all to come in, and find life in me.
I have spoken, share my word as I have given it, and do not be afraid. My word will not return to me void. I will accomplish all that I purpose to do, I am with you always, to the close of the age.
